Hsin-Yun Huang

Viola / Performance

Hsin-Yun Huang has collaborated with many distinguished artists, including Yo-Yo Ma, Jaime Laredo, Joshua Bell, Joseph Suk, and Menahem Pressler; and the Guarneri, Juilliard, Orion, Brentano, and St. Lawrence string quartets.

Ms. Huang has performed at prominent music festivals throughout the world, including the Aspen, Cartagena International, Chamber Music Northwest, La Jolla, Marlboro, Moritzburg, Music@Menlo, Prague Spring, Santa Fe Chamber Music, Spoleto, and Stavanger festivals.

As a concerto soloist, Ms. Huang has performed with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Berlin Radio Symphony, City of London Sinfonia, National Symphony of Taiwan, Russian State Philharmonic, and Tokyo Philharmonic. She has championed new works featuring the viola by George Benjamin, Shih-Hui Chen, Marc-André Dalbavie, and Steven Mackey, among others.

Ms. Huang studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School with David Takeno, at the Curtis Institute of Music with Michael Tree, and at the Juilliard School with Samuel Rhodes. She teaches at the Juilliard School and the Mannes College of Music in addition to the Curtis Institute of Music, where she joined the faculty in 2011.
