Curtis Summer Organ Intensive

Training the world’s next generation of organists

The Curtis Summer Organ Intensive is designed to give the exceptional organ student a variety of opportunities to broaden and strengthen their skills. The 10-day camp provides daily lessons in repertoire, transcriptions, improvisation, harpsichord and conducting with Curtis faculty members Alan Morrison, Leon Schelhase, Jonathan Coopersmith, and Wanamaker Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte. Excursions include a trip to Longwood Gardens and organ tours of famous local instruments including The Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall (Dobson’s Opus 76), Girard College Chapel (E.M. Skinner’s Opus 872), and other instruments by Fisk, Aeolian-Skinner and Möller.

Formal recitals will be held on both the Wanamaker Organ at Macy’s Center City and in Field Concert Hall at Curtis Institute of Music.

Audition Requirements

Six students will be selected based on competitive auditions. Tuition, travel, housing, and meals are included.

  • One letter of recommendation from a private instructor.

  • Video submissions should consist of two contrasting pieces.

    • Each piece should be unedited–fixed camera recorded in one take.
    • Recordings should be no more than one year old.
    • Each piece can be submitted separately or in one video.
