Daniel W. Dietrich II Young Alumni Fund
The Daniel W. Dietrich II Young Alumni Fund is an annual grant program dedicated to supporting young alumni of Curtis. These grants—ranging from $1,000 to $10,000—are part of Curtis’s ongoing efforts to strengthen support for alumni in the years that follow graduation and help young alumni who may be experiencing obstacles of any kind in the pursuit of their musical careers.
Applications for the next cycle of grants are open now!
Community Artist Fellowships
Curtis alumni bring their artistry to underserved communities in Philadelphia through Community Artist Fellowships. Community Artist Fellows are placed in existing partnerships between Curtis and institutions such as schools, hospitals, prisons, and rehabilitation centers. They follow a flexible schedule that balances their work in the community alongside practice and performance time.
Graduates of Curtis ages 18–28 who are willing to dedicate nine months to service are encouraged to apply to the Community Artist Fellowship program by February 1, 2022. Applications, deadlines, and additional information are available in the Acceptd online platform (select Community Artist Fellowship from the available applications on the left of the screen). Contact Mary Javian, chair of career studies at (215) 717-3149 for more information.
Alumni Referral Program
Every year, Curtis hosts prospective students from around the world in one of the most competitive admissions processes in higher education. Last year, nearly one-third of applicants first learned or gathered information about Curtis from alumni. You play a crucial role in supporting young musicians at key points in their artistic journeys and building relationships with some of Curtis’s most competitive applicants. We hope you will help us connect with talented students, especially those who might not otherwise consider applying to Curtis.

Alumni Resources
As members of the Curtis Alumni Network, all alumni have access to a broad array of benefits.
Curtis has established a therapy fund through RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, to assist survivors with costs related to therapy associated with sexual misconduct experienced during their time at the school. We have also partnered with RAINN for the operation of the Curtis Institute of Music Therapy Fund Hotline through RAINN.
Get Involved
There are many ways to participate and we encourage alumni to step forward. Interested alumni are invited to:
- get involved as a social media ambassador,
- host alumni gatherings, or
- join a committee to coordinate Curtis storytelling projects, regional and global ambassadors, annual philanthropy, and volunteer leadership for reunions, among other efforts.
