Curtis Institute of Music seeks a dynamic and passionate individual to join the development team as the engagement assistant. Working under the guidance of and with the support of the director of individual giving, donor, and alumni engagement, the incumbent will assist with administrative tasks that support the work of the engagement team, thereby fostering and strengthening relationships with key constituencies and ultimately advancing, Curtis’ mission and philanthropic objectives.

More Details and Qualifications

  • Essential Functions

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Provide general administrative support for the engagement team, and specifically alumni and families.
    • Manage correspondence with alumni and parents, including emails and phone calls.
    • Assist in the maintenance of the alumni and donor databases and records.
    • Work with colleagues on the creation of donor and alumni lists for outreach and communication.
    • Provide support for the administration of the Curtis Circles and Fellowship programs.
    • Manage the school’s presence on the Curtis Connect (360Alumni) platform.
    • Support the development events manager to plan, coordinate, and execute various events tailored to alumni and families, such as reunions, receptions, and networking programs.
    • Generate content and provide production assistance for numerous cultivation, engagement, and stewardship channels, including, but not limited to fellowship notifications; alumni and donor correspondence; social media content (including LinkedIn and Curtis Connect); and event invitations.
    • Coordinate meaningful campus visits for alumni and parents.
    • Provide support with stewardship strategies to recognize and appreciate alumni, families, and donors, ensuring their contributions are acknowledged. 
  • Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    Candidates should be able to demonstrate: 

    • Minimum of one year experience in office management, program development, event management, alumni relations, and/or volunteer management.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse constituencies.
    • Capacity to write effectively, speak persuasively, and present information logically and neatly in various contexts.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/database software; experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
    • Ability to work with alumni, families, donors, and volunteer leadership tactfully and diplomatically.
    • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

  • Working Conditions and Physical Demands
    • Position is located in Philadelphia but a hybrid work schedule may be possible consistent with departmental needs.
    • This position is part-time, 29 hours per week.
    • Exertional requirements are primarily routine office environment.
    • Travel and some night and/or weekend work may be required occasionally.
    • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer at the time of hire.
    • COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement for all positions at the Curtis Institute of Music and all new hires are expected to be fully vaccinated before beginning work.
  • Compensation and Benefits
    • $45,000 gross annually salary
    • This position is not benefits eligible
